Masego & FKJ have provided their fans with another visual round for their unlikely hit after picking up little over 130 million streams out of the strength of “Tadow” alone. Yesterday marked the 2-year anniversary of the first release of the song as a project of “building a bear.” Instead of setting the studio most synonymous with the pair, Masego & FKJ opted for Los Angeles ‘ beautiful smog through videographer Joe Weil’s exasperated lens.
A series of sky-level billboards come into view as Masego cruises along the LA strip, depicting parallel realities. To read TADOW in a scribbly marker, cards and protest signs are overturned. Weil steals the spotlight away from Masego (and a camera-shy FKJ) in the same random order to highlight the historic treble produced by the three women of color who successively won Miss America, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA. With Summer just around the corner, “Tadow” looks set to enjoy another run anywhere in sight, without a suitable replacement.
