There is a new artist named Mariah The Scientist who wants to create a spark, and she has packaged solid signs from Canada’s own Tory Lanez. In fact, Fargo trusted Mariah so much that he kept her as executive producer on her upcoming debut, The Master. The rapper was so passionate about his protoge that he channeled the “older brother” archetype in an emotional and sensational Instagram post: “Alas, I watched you being a slave to this project for so long in the studio,” he wrote, explaining that Mariah was people who must be watched. “Very proud of you and this body works a lot. THE WORLD will finally be able to hear the extraordinary creative talent you have in songwriting, and in every vocal you sing.”
Now, Complex has aired its latest single “Reminders,” which serves as a clue to what to expect. Taken to a nostalgic 80s-fueled synthpop ballad, Mariah floats roomy vocals with a clear purpose. Claiming to have written a song in just five minutes, “Reminder” centers around the danger of a toxic relationship. Speaking with Complexity, Mariah outlined a few of her sentences, explaining, ‘I know you don’t mean it,’ really signified how someone could kill the security of their partner in a relationship, even if they did not intend to. “
Look for the Master to arrive on Friday 23 August, executive produced by Big Fargo himself.
Quotable Lyrics
Is it a crime that I planned to leave you in our Brooklyn apartment?
It seems like it ended before it got started
Know that our parents caught it,
Said I’d end up broken-hearted
