The HBK may have cooled off in 2014-2015 since its heyday, but for that matter don’t tell either P-Lo or Kool John. Up All Night 2 dropped a little over a week ago to little fanfare, marking Kool John’s return to action, and the unprecedented imprint of Schmoplife.
By my count, if the HBK movement is removed from its peak for four years, the two-year lapse between the first two Up All Night installments is rather well-intended, if not totally agonizing to its greatest fans -especially those who wanted his music to resurface in Oakland-area strip clubs, long and hard. Up All Night 2 boasts the lead singles he randomly put out: “Run The Bag Up” with the above-mentioned P-Lo, flanked by Nef The Pharaoh and Larry June, as well as “HELLADATSHIT” featuring HBK Skipper. On just about every platform, the mixtape is available. Before it runs cold, get a copy.
