DMX’s team has announced in a recent social media post that the singer has opted to check into a rehabilitation center.
“DMX has checked itself into a rehabilitation facility in its ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first,” his team said in an Instagram post. “He apologizes for his cancelled shows and thanks his fans for continued support.”
The news comes at the tail end of a fruitful time following the release in January of X from jail. After his release, for his It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot album, DMX went on a 20th anniversary tour and even inked a new deal with his old Def Jam label.
This is yet another rehab stint for the veteran emcee who cancelled three shows in California when he checked back in 2017 at a hospital. That same year, while on house arrest for tax evasion, he would check in a New England substance abuse clinic. So far, there has been no details on how long DMX expects this time around to continue in recovery.
At the Three 6 Mafia reunion show in Memphis on Saturday and on the second day of Rolling Loud New York on Sunday, he was initially scheduled to perform this weekend.
