G Perico has been a fixture in the Los Angeles hip-hop world for the better part of the past decade, if not longer. Perico does everything as an independent artist, campaigning from the grassroots level to become an underrated Western hip-hop giant. Today, he released his latest project, Ten Eight, but it came along with a big announcement for artist A.L. The rapper’s new project was released from a partnership agreement that was just made with Roc Nation.
The expansion of the Roc Nation kingdom expanded by releasing the Ten Eight. But for G Perico, the agreement was deeper than just rap – it was the principles and cultural impact around Roc Nation that attracted G Perico to sign an agreement with Big Hov.
“Roc Nation is a big conglomerate, a fixture in culture. It’s owned by Black, Black was created. It was created from difficulties. Nobody made love to JAY-Z, and they changed [Roc-A-Fella and finally Roc Nation] into one [ entity] strongest in rap music. I come from a similar situation, “he told Complex. “The conversation made sense, as opposed to me going to another label that only focused on the bottom line and didn’t understand the impact G Perico had on the streets.”
Now, you might ask why he decided to go that route to sign with Roc Nation when he did it himself for the rest of his career. The rapper explained that this agreement made sense to him in the long run. Although the current agreement is a two-project project that will also include the release of the next project, Broadway which is produced by Terrace Martin.
“This is more than an agreement or partnership. These are people I can see doing business with my entire career in some capacity, even if it’s not music,” he added.
