It’s been quite a while since Erykah Badu heard fresh music. She connected with James Poyser of The Roots for a cover of “Tempted” by Squeeze for this year’s Record Store Day. Now, the song was lastly uploaded to streaming services together with the instrumental version that contains contributions from Ali Jackson, Thundercat, and Derrick Hodge. The song was initially used as the second off of Squeeze’s 1981 album, East Side Story, and later gained popularity through its inclusion in commercials from Burger King and Heineken.
The song serves as the first release of Erykah Bady since the 2015 release of But You Cain’t Use My Phone. Hopefully, this is a sign that in the near future we might expect more songs from her.
