Trippie Redd has now returned from the shadows with his new album “Under Enemy Arms.” Premiering the track as the world record for Zane Lowe, the track finds Trippie mixing his signature melodic warble with a hard-hitting, refreshingly anthemic instrumental. Synth brass mirrors the march of a soldier as Trippie cries out for threats and regrets, a promising look at his new direction of music. Or at least one of the paths he could take; the vibe of Trippie is often spontaneous, a reflection of his own mood whenever inspiration strikes.
For the live stage, the song seems tailor-made, a fact not lost on Trippie himself. The live premiere, as he says, prompted a strange and surreal experience soaked in urine. “I think we were at a festival in Memphis and someone was pissing and thinking it was crazy,” he says to Zane. “A lady pulled her pants down and started pissing in the middle of the crowd and they recorded it and I posted it.” With that in mind, listen to “Under Enemy Arms” at your own risk, lest your body lash out in a rebellious act.
