This is a long road for Detroit rapper, Obie Trice, one of the lyricists underestimated in the game. Since appearing in the spotlight with Shady Records debut, Cheers has moved at its own pace. Throughout his long-running career, Obie has experienced trials and tribulations; where musical momentum might falter, family dynamics are only supported. Today, Obie came to bless us with another musical dent, which is perhaps the most focused release in a post-Cheerful career.
Enter The Fifth, featuring Xzibit, Swift McVay, and others. From the moment the introspective and honest Intro “Intro” began, Obie remained in good condition. Its sharp flow remains truly unique, because it seamlessly creates a multi-syllable scheme for sandy and raw production. There are evocative songs of male era such as Dre-esque “Space,” or more contemporary songs like “ASS.” True, most of the people who come here are probably old Obie loyalists, but that’s OK – this is an album for fans, and it’s played like that.
