The idea that Rapsody is one of the top-level lyricists in this game is not interesting. Now, with her new album Eve, Rap is the starting point for those who fail to pay attention. From the bat, the title of the album evokes a double reverence, both for the legendary First Lady Ruff Ryders and the true “first lady” of the Bible. Between that and the fact that most of the songs are named after an iconic woman (a stylistic tactic previously used by Young Thug on Jeffery), Eve radiates women’s empowerment by just being there.
But one does not need to find a higher reason to enjoy the latest Rap. Anyone who has an ear for bars, flow, and general rap art can find takeaway on Eve, which features performances from SiR, J.I.D., J. Cole, Queen Latifah, GZA, D’Angelo and many more. Sonically, this album offers flexibility – from Whoopi’s woodwinds to the relaxed soul “Faith.” Be sure to check this one, because it is likely to end the year on top of the list of critics; do you think, has Eve made Rapsody one of the best games now?
