Rapper Blu and producer Oh No fell off their A Red Hot Los Angeles Summer Night album earlier this year. The record is the dream of an underground hip hop lover as the beatmaker and songwriter join forces to produce an art job that is mildly absent in today’s mainstream hip hop. Blu is an established name in the industry, and while he may not be as recognizable as his counterparts, he is respected as an emcee by the socially conscious rapper.
Blu and Oh No come together again on their “Pop Shots” track to produce a track that talks about the impacts, impacts, and emotional intensity associated with ringing out firearms. The visual is heavy television, not only because the actual old school television screens are used as an artistic addition, but also because it features television news footage of real gun-related events.
