Two artists from Dreamville collided as Bas fell off his recent single “Fried Rice” featuring J.I.D. Undeniably, Dreamville has one of the hottest rosters right now, and Bas and J.I.D. demonstrate they have to be counted on on on this track. This is the first time the labelmates have come together on a single, but they worked with J on “Can’t Call It” alongside each other. Cole and the Gang of the Earth.
“Fried Rice” is a reference to New York City where, when he was just a kid, Bas was raised after leaving Paris. It’s interesting that these two artists work together because as the story goes, Bas helped discover J.I.D. The latter was performed back in 2014 during Bas’s Atlanta show, and J.I.D impressed Bas so much that he and his team couldn’t help but inform J.I.D. Cole about the artist from the south. Cole checked it out, ultimately added it to the Dreamville list, and the remainder is history— or we should say, the making of history.
