By now, you’ve had time to listen well to the latest Escape From New York effort by Beast Coast. For those of you who have done it throughout the record, you understand it’s hard to pick one outstanding track as the collective has delivered a project worthy of praise. Erick the Architect, Meechy Darko, and Zombie Juice from Flatbush Zombies are partnering with Pro Era’s Joey Bada$$ for the song “Rubberband” to deliver a street-style track that may be short for some listeners.
Catchy hooks on rap tracks make many believe there should be a build-up that includes lyrical stylings that are widespread and accessible to the masses (a “Hard Knock Life”), but if you’re looking for it on “Rubberband,” you’re going to be disappointed. On the chorus, there may be singing, but the lyricism associated with these acts of the Beast Coast is not for playing. Also, make sure you catch Megan Thee Stallion mention from Zombie Juice.
