Free Nationals – Eternal Light Ft. Chronixx

It’s been a year since their first single with Daniel Caesar and Unknown Mortal Orchestra was released by Anderson Paak’s backing band, The Free Nationals. Never preceded an album, but The Free Nats managed to provide us with unexpected smooth songs. They were responsible for giving us the beautiful gift of the first official posthumous release of Mac Miller with the Kali Uchis-assisted hit, “Time.” The groovy “On Sight,” featuring J.I.D., Kadhja Bonet and MIKNNA, followed.

Now, the band is back with another track loaded with “solid energy” and “positive vibes.” While these words have been overused by the press and co-optedby marketers to the point that hearing them can cause your eyes to roll to the back of your head, they sound genuinely real when coming from the mouth of Jamaican reggae artist Chronixx. By emitting relentless light, “Eternal Light” lives up to its name. It lulls you with its deft bass and drum play, making it the perfect joint to roll up.

Quotable Lyrics

Aye rum all in my cup is full and running over
All we ever like is the love we never know
Baby girl just thanks for sex and coming over
And when she reaches over and turns off the phone
