Within the hip-hop community, Miley Cyrus is not completely liked. The actor-turned-artist tried to break into our world a couple of years ago and she’s back trying to infiltrate the community after trashing rap and its surrounding culture when it didn’t work out. As a tight-knit group of like-minded individuals, it will be difficult for Miley to swing back into the good graces of hip-hop, but she is trying to do exactly that on her upcoming album She Is Coming. Working closely with Mike WiLL Made-It, Miley wants to cross over into a few other genres and she has enlisted one of the straight-up legends of rap with “D.R.E.A.M” to deliver her take on a classic.
Don’t get me wrong— there are aspects of Miley Cyrus ‘ hip-hop take that weren’t that problematic, but the way she’s focused on all the wrong things seems to rub people off the wrong way. For starters, her new track with Ghostface Killah is called “D.R.E.A.M,” meaning “Drugs Rule Everything Around Me.” By now, you’ve probably realized that the song is Miley’s own take on the Wu-Tang classic “C.R.E.A.M,” which certainly won’t start people on the right foot.
This is basically Miley’s love letter to her drugs of choice without giving away too much. Let us know what you’re thinking.
