The annual MTV Music Awards are underway!
It was this year, everyone! The annual MTV Music Awards took place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey with Sebastian Maniscalco hosting the evening’s event. This is a big year for hip-hop, even though the two artists with the most nominations are more close to hip-hop than the rapper himself. Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X lead the awards show with nine and eight nominations respectively. They will compete in the Video Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Editing Categories.

For the Video of the Year category, the two will also go up against 21 Savage and J. Cole “a lot,” Ariana Grande “thanks, next,” Jonas Brothers Sucker, and Taylor Swift “You Need To Calm Down.”
In terms of performances for that night – because that’s the main reason why people watch – Megan Thee Stallion will appear during the pre-show while the actual ceremony will include performances from Bad Bunny, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, HER, Normani, Ozuna, and Big Sean and A $ AP Ferg who will do their new single down at midnight. In addition, Missy Elliot will reach the stage and a joint performance by Ratu Latifah, Naught By Nature, Redman, Fetty Wap, and Wyclef Jean.
