Trippie Redd took down the melody and experimental album! (Exclamation Mark) this past week. This project maneuvered through many emotions, and showed maturity in Redd. Many artists continue to use the “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” model, so it’s nice to see Redd experimenting a little with his style! (Exclamation mark). On the single “Throw It Away,” Trippie croons about lost love.
By using repeated hooks and allowing vocals to reverberate on the track, Trippie has made contagious love songs. Singles are leaning towards the pop genre more than hip-hop, and we won’t be surprised if “Throw It Away” sneaks into the Hot 100 at some point this year. Although Trippie may have appeared for this track, the rhythm, which was built by OZ, G. Ry & BRYVN, relied heavily on hip-hop percussion to create the perfect backdrop for Redd’s Croons.
