This year, XanMan’s “Gucci Down” made waves. The DMV rapper is a jack of all trades in which his own music is written, produced and recorded. “Gucci Down” was a certified hit— the manufacturing was timely, its syrupy melodies and repetitive hook turned the song into an instant earworm. Right now, though, he puts more authority behind the song.
The rapper enlisted fellow DMV rapper, Rico Nasty, who lately appeared on the # PROUDCATOWNERREMIX remix of XXXTENTACION, as well as YungManny. Rico returns to a more melodic delivery that’s not new but it’s been a while since we’ve heard her on that kind of atmosphere.YungManny pulls up to the end of the track, helping to maintain the energy of the song elevated.
